In the near fictional future - outside 2023 - roboty-Strazhi conduct hunting on mutants worldwide. In Moscow guards attack the group of the X-Men consisting of Kitty Prayd, the Colossus, Bishop, Varpatcha, Blink and the Person ice. At the last minute Kitty sends Bishop's consciousness to the past that that warned group about the attack of Guards in advance. Mutants take refuge in the abandoned Chinese temple where meet the Glutton, professor Xavier, Mag and the Thunderstorm. Xavier explains to the X-Men a problem of Guards. They were developed by the scientist of the Pentagon Bolívar Trask. Bolívar in 1973 was killed by Raven then was taken prisoner to the government. Scientists allocated the site of DNA which allowed to improve Guards repeatedly at Raven. 

Now Guards were almost impregnable for mutants. The glutton volunteers to go voluntarily to the past to prevent Bolívar's murder and the subsequent events. The rejuvenated Logan of a sample of 1973 meets the Animal. That tells that the School of mutants is closed long ago. Many students went to the war in Vietnam, and Mag, he is Lensher, it is arrested on false charge of John Kennedy's murder. Young Xavier drinks much and takes the special drugs which suppress superabilities. Three together the Glutton, Zver and Xavier get into the Pentagon. They manage to get out Mag. Also the beginner Pyotr Maksimoff, he Mercury joined team. Mutants prevent attack Raven on Trask during signing of the peace treaty in Paris. At this Mag Raven tries to kill itself, but it is stopped by a furious Animal. Trask convinces the president Nixon to initiate the program of Guards as mutants cannot be controlled.

Meanwhile Raven did not refuse the plan, and the X-Men continue to pursue her already in Washington. But Mag secretly tries to take control over Guards. It is shown in battle at the White House where Raven hunts on Trask. Mag tries to kill Nixon, and mutants have to rise in defense of the president.
Meanwhile, in 2023 the remained mutants prepare for final fight with the integrated Guards. If half a century back Logan does not manage to stop Raven and to convince Nixon of advantage of mutants, in the future business will end sadly. But, maybe, the X-Men will publicly save the president and at the same time disavow true plans of selling Trask...
