It all starts from the moment Bertrand Zobrist decides to tell his audience at his lecture that soon humanity is expecting a mass extinction and it will be connected with the relocation of a huge mass of people. To fulfill the prophecy, he manages to create a deadly virus in the laboratory that can destroy people and gives it the name "Inferno". The businessman decides to hide his treasure in a safe place, having made up a difficult path to it before, using special mysterious puzzles, and then independently deprives himself of life.

Robert Langdon has been interested in history since his youth, he is a well-known professor who teaches at Havard and is quite a talented expert who often helps the special services, advising them on special issues. One day he finds himself in the hospital and when he regains consciousness, he realizes that he does not remember anything at all. But the situation begins to deteriorate even more when a killer enters the hospital and tries to destroy Robert.
